A critical Simplenote update has been released for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It contains the following fixes:
- fixed a problem that could result in data loss if you updated but had not yet created an account
- fixed a problem that could result in data loss while working offline
- fixed some problems with tags (although tag syncing is not yet perfect)
- fixed problems with searching in portrait mode (iPad)
- moved the Sign Out button
- only display Sync Now information once
We wanted to push this update as quickly as possible. As a result, it doesn’t contain a large number of fixes. The next update, 3.0.4, is already nearing completion. It will have additional fixes for synchronization, tags, and a fix for Japanese keyboards.
Thanks for your patience as we iron out these issues.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to apologize to those people who had been using Simplenote as an offline-only application. Early this year we decided to make Simplenote an online-focused app. We didn’t realize some people were still enjoying it as an offline-only app, and as a result, the major update did not go as smoothly for these people as it did for others.
If you’re among these offline-only users and you’re unhappy with your experience, please contact us at support@simplenoteapp.com so we can help you.
Great update guys, but there's a problem, iPad 3.2 (jailbroken) the app fails to load.Tapping the app in either portrait or landscape opens a white page (the background visual of the app) which hands for a 3 count, then crashes. This app has been a rock, so much so that I was planning to use it for presenter notes on a large talk today, sadly, I'll be forced to use [shudder] Apple's Notes.Hope this crash report helps, ~ Aaron
iPad 3.2 here (not 3.2.1) also jailbroken: simplenote seems to be working great. Good work guys! Now if only you could speed it up just a bit on my iPhone 2G. Thanks!
@Aaron: Sounds like it entered a weird state for you. A reinstall should fix it (tap and hold the icon until it shakes, then tap X, then resync with iTunes).@Brian: Our priority right now is fixes, and then we'll be adding some extra polish (including speed improvements).
Do you have an ETA or next rev when we can have basic (bold, italic, font-size) to our notes? In addition, code syntax highlight is another suggestion. Thanks, love what you guys are doing!
What happened to textexpander support? It no longer works since the update…
@John: No immediate plans for formatting. We're focusing on fixes and polish at the moment.@Marc: You might need to disable and re-enable Share Snippets in TextExpander. We'll look into this.
At the store (on iPhone 4) and just tried to bring up grocery list. Seems like it reset and now cannot log in. Have tried rebooting, deleting and reinstalling with no luck. Hope it gets worke out soon!!
Just realized this post is a week old 🙂 hard to get the details walking around the store. Still having the sign in problem though. Will check it out further when I get home.
I love the new updates to Simplenote. Using this App has been more satisfying with the new upgrade. This makes organizing notes much simpler. I have already downloaded the update in my iPad. Keep it up developer team.Nomer Brionipod Speakers Blog
