Simplenote for Android

Our relaunch is now underway, starting with Simplenote for Android. You can download Simplenote on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. Our new version for Android has the same focus on speed and efficiency as the existing iOS app.

If you’ve previously used Simplenote, you can now use all your notes on your Android phone or tablet. If you’re a new user, you can create an account right within the app.

A little twist

We’re trying something a little different. You don’t need an account to use Simplenote for Android. You can download it for free and use it locally right away. When you’re ready to backup your notes online and sync with other devices, you can create an account at any time.

Coming up next

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll complete the relaunch of Simplenote by releasing Simplenote for Mac, a redesigned Simplenote for web, and a completely rebuilt Simplenote for iOS 7. We’re really excited about our new family of apps, and can’t wait to show you what else we’ve been working on.

For app developers

In addition to the app, we’ve released a Simperium library for Android. Simperium is a service for seamless syncing across devices. It powers all the storage and networking in Simplenote and is available for any other app developer to use as well.

The new Simperium library for Android is open source and makes it really easy to add Simplenote-style syncing to your Android apps. It’s a bit like iCloud but works across iOS, Android, and the web.

    1. Because it’s a square instead of some unique shape?

You do realize that (a) the Simplenote icon IS a square, and (b) a lot of Android apps use square icons.

  2. Works great on my SGS2! I migrated from catch to evernote after catch closed and evernote was far too bloated and slow

Thanks for keeping it clean + simple

  3. Are there any plans for a native Windows app, or maybe a nice Chrome app for Windows and ChromeOS users?

    Gracias.

Many appreciate compatibility with version 2.3 for old terminals. Thank you.

  5. Please consider adding the ability to create a shortcut/widget to a single note -so that users can pin the note to their homepage and have a one touch access to any particular note. Thks!
